Juz 25 (Fussilat Verse 47 Through Al Jaathiyah Verse 37)
Here are 5 fruits 🍐 from the language of Quran:
1.) The root (ج - ز - ء) has one primary root meaning, which is that of sufficiency. From this root, we obtain the Form VIII verb اِجْتَزَأَ, which means “to be sufficient” (اِكْتَفَى). Also from this root, we obtain the word جُزْءٌ (“piece/part”) and its plural of أَجْزَاءٌ (“pieces/parts”). This word can also mean “one’s share or lot in life,” i.e, نَصِيب. We see this word used in ayah 43:15 of Surah Az-Zukhruf: وَجَعَلُوا۟ لَهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ *جُزْءًا* ۚ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَكَفُورٌۭ مُّبِينٌ (“Still the pagans have made some of His creation out to be *_a part_* of Him. Indeed, humankind is clearly ungrateful”). This ayah is describing those who believe that angels are “daughters” of God, in so doing, they’ve “apportioned” God into “parts,” والعياذ بالله (“God protect us!”).
2.) The root (خ - ر - ص) has several root meanings. One of them is to guess or to lie. From this root, we obtain the verb خَرَصَ, which means to approximate a quantity of something by guessing its number. Also from this root, we obtain the hyperbolic word خَرَّاص, which means “a persistent liar” (كذَّاب). We see this meaning used in verse 43:20 of Surah Az-Zukhruf: وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا *يَخْرُصُونَ* (“And they argue, “Had the Most Compassionate willed, we would have never worshipped them.” They have no knowledge ˹in support˺ of this ˹claim˺. They do nothing but *_lie_*”).
3.) The root (د - خ - ن) has the primary root meaning of that which is related to firewood 🪵 and fuel for a fire 🔥, and one of its derived meanings from this root is that of hostility. From this root, we obtain the word دُخَان (“smoke”). We also obtain the Form I verb دَخَنَ, which refers to the rising of smoke of a fire. We see this word used in verse 44:10 of Surah Ad-Dukhan: فَٱرْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِى ٱلسَّمَآءُ *بِدُخَانٍۢ* مُّبِينٍ (“Wait then ˹O Prophet ﷺ˺ for the day ˹when˺ the sky will be veiled in *_a smoke_*, clearly visible”).
4.) The root (ن - ق - م) refers to the primary concept of the denial of something and finding its defects. From this root, we obtain the Form I verb نَقَمَ - يَنْقِمُ, which means “to deny.” Also from this root, we obtain the word نِقْمَة , which is the opposite of نِعْمَة (“blessing”), but also refers to vengeance itself. This relates to its root meaning in that it is as if he denied him and then punished him. Also from this root, we obtain the Form VIII verb اِنْتَقَمَ (“to take revenge”). We see this verb used in its doer pattern plural form (مُنْتَقِمُونَ) in verse 44:16 of Surah Ad-Dukhan: يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا *مُنتَقِمُونَ* (“˹Then˺ on the Day We will deal ˹you˺ the fiercest blow, *_We will surely inflict punishment_*”).
5.) The root (ص - ر - ر) has multiple meanings. One of them is that of perseverance and insistence upon a matter. We see this meaning in the Form IV verb أَصَرَّ - يُصِرُّ, which means “to insist and/or to be perseverant upon a matter.” And the masdar/verbal noun of this is إِصْرَار (“perseverance/insistence”). We see this verb used in ayah 45:8 of Surah Al-Jaathiyah: يَسْمَعُ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ *يُصِرُّ* مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَسْمَعْهَا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ (“They hear Allah’s revelations recited to them, then *_persist_* ˹in denial˺ arrogantly as if they did not hear them. So give them good news of a painful punishment”).
