Juz 15 (Al-Israa Verse 1 Through Al-Kahf Verse 74)

Here are 5 fruits 🍐 from the language of Quran:


1.) The root (ح - ص - ر) refers to the confinement or restriction of something. From this root, we obtain the word حَصْر, which refers to “constriction/restrainment.” This word can also refer to the constriction of one’s chest (ضيق الصدر). Also from this root, we obtain the word حَصِير, which refers to a prison or area of restriction in general. We see this word حَصِير used in ayah 17:8 of Surah Al Israa: عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَن يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَا ۘ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ *حَصِيرًا* (“Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you ˹if you repent˺, but if you return ˹to sin˺, We will return ˹to punishment˺. And We have made Hell a ˹permanent˺ *_confinement_* for the disbelievers”). 


2.) The root (ف - ض - ل) refers linguistically to the increase of something. From this root, we obtain the word فَضْلٌ (“grace/virtue”), so called because “grace” is an increase in goodness. We also obtain the  word إِفْضَال, which is synonymous with إحسان (“excellence”). This word often carries the meaning of the virtue of something over something else, and in some situations, can even refer to one’s wealth 💰 and what one acquires/earns. We see this word used in verse 17:12 of Surah Al Israa: وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ءَايَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلنَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةًۭ لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ *فَضْلًۭا* مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ تَفْصِيلًۭا (“We made the day and night as two signs. So We made the sign of the night devoid of light, and We made the sign of the day ˹perfectly˺ bright, so that you may seek the *_bounty_* of your Lord and know the number of years and calculation ˹of time˺. And We have explained everything in detail”).


3.) The root (ع - د - د) refers to the counting and enumeration of something. This root is seen commonly in the Quran. From this root, we obtain the word عَدَدٌ (“number”) and the adjective (عَدِيدٌ), which means “numerous.” We see this word used in verse 17:12 of Surah Al Israa: وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ءَايَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلنَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةًۭ لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ فَضْلًۭ* مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟ *عَدَدَ* ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ تَفْصِيلًۭا (“We made the day and night as two signs. 4.) The root (ف - ص - ل) refers to the distinguishment of something from something else, or in other words, the delineation of two things. From this we obtain the word فَصَلَ, which means “to separate.” The word فَصِيل refers to a baby camel 🐪 if it has been separated from its mother. Also from this root, we obtain the word مِفْصَل, which refers to “tongue,” so called because one uses their tongue to distinguish between matters using precise speech. Also from this root, the word فَيْصَل (also a common male name) is derived, which means “the arbitrator or the judge”. Also from this root, we obtain the word مِفْصَل, which refers to the joints of a person, so called because joints separate bones and distinguish them from each other. We see this word used vin erse 17:12 of Surah Al Israa: وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ ءَايَتَيْنِ ۖ فَمَحَوْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَجَعَلْنَآ ءَايَةَ ٱلنَّهَارِ مُبْصِرَةًۭ لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ فَضْلًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟ عَدَدَ ٱلسِّنِينَ وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍۢ *فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ تَفْصِيلًا* (“We made the day and night as two signs. So We made the sign of the night devoid of light, and We made the sign of the day ˹perfectly˺ bright, so that you may seek the bounty of your Lord and know the number of years and calculation ˹of time˺. And *_We have explained everything in detail_*”).


5.) The root (ن - ش - ر) refers to the opening of something as well as to its division and segmentation into various branches 🌲. From this root, we obtain the noun of instrument مِنْشَارٌ (“saw”), so called because a saw is used to divide up things into various segmented parts. Also from this root, we obtain the word نَشَرَ, which means “to spread and disseminate outwards.” This verb can also mean “to open,” such as in نَشَرْتُ الكِتَابَ (“I opened the book”).  This verb can also more generally have the meaning of spreading something out, such as in نَشَرَ الثَّوبَ (“he spread out the garment”).  Also from this root, we obtain the ism النَّشْرُ, which refers to “wind” (رِيحٌ). And from this root, we obtain the word النُّشُور, which refers to the Day of Judgment. We see the receiver pattern (اسم المفعول), namely مَنْشُور (‘that which is laid out/spread out”), used in verse 17:13 of Surah Al Israa: وَكُلَّ إِنسَـٰنٍ أَلْزَمْنَـٰهُ طَـٰٓئِرَهُۥ فِى عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ كِتَـٰبًۭا يَلْقَىٰهُ *مَنشُورًا* (“We have bound every human’s destiny to their neck.1 And on the Day of Judgment We will bring forth to each ˹person˺ a record which they will find *_laid open_*”).
