READING: Read Surah Al Fatihah with students

They read it and then annotate it using the annotation guide. student should do the annotation before class (give instructions for this), and then in class, we go over annotations. Idea is to do annotations quickly, just go over it like answer key. 5-10 minutes to review annotations.

When presenting ayaat, color the vocab below, they need to know meaning of the colored vocab specifically, emphasize the following):

1.) Focus on light vs heavy letters (eg: (ـك) in (إيّاك) and ملك)

2.) Focus on light vs heavy for laam and raa

  • Both occurences of the name “Allah” are light

  • Identify and pronounce raa as soft vs heavy (both are found)

3.) Pronounciation of ض in الضآلين and ذ in أعوذ بالله.

  • Play a recitation of incorrect Al Fatihah (make a point that even huffadh recite with these common mistakes)

WRITING: students would write out the entire Surah Al Fatihah, copying it while looking at the Arabic given.
