APA meeting, 10/9/25:

  • their books don’t have answerkeys.

  • For quizzes, they found out that they have open-access tests to Fawakih, which they dont’ want.

  • Studnets also found that they can order book with answer key online. problematic.

  • 1.) Can they have closed-access quizzes? Special link only accessible to the teachers.

  • 2.) they also use their own email address, so not going to teacher.

  • 2.) Can they have more activitities that are not in the book? so that students cannot cheat.

  • they share screenshots of the quizzes and answer keys in their own groups, so they are cheating.

  • problem is that students use AI now.

  • Action items:

  • 1.) make quiz links password-protected.

  • 2.) They have to create their own tests. They need Fawakih to provide the text to give the actual answer choices, question bank, and answer choice.

  • biggest issue is that students can get access to online quizzes. and classmarker is auto-graded, but APA wants to manually grade it. so they want to do it via Canvas or on paper.

  • share with them word document with all question bank, questions, answer choices, etc. adding more questions and making it accessible only to APA. Lesson 1-8 question bank. Start urgently with 8-9 and 2-3. 15-20 questions per lesson. By next Sunday: 2-3 and 7-9. They need Lesson 8 quiz (Oct 20) and Lesson 2 quiz (Oct 20) and then Lesson 7 later.

  • Can be any format of quizzes. MC, fill in the blank, etc. Eg: 10 MC, 10 different types of questions, ID, fill in the blank. Just make sure it follows 1A.

  • They want question bank for their own canvas and they may print it out.

  • hqerqez@apacademy.org

  • tpatel@apacademy.org

  • new student in eighth grade, missed Lessons 1-6.

  • give them access to Kajabi online portal for students.

  • They need custom-made videos for APA: much shorter, ours are too long. And make them kid-friendly. Short 5-10 minute videos. focus on this asap.

  • they need speed review process for those who join the class late for middle schoolers.

  • Reources they need ASAP in order of priority in APA file:

  • 3) Kid-friendly Short videos that explain the concept: 5-10 minutes.

  • 4.) More exercises without answer keys. Closed access.

  • 2.) Text Analysis and Quran Analysis: simple and easy based on general vocab, keep it simplel. Prioritize this over exercises.

  • 1.) More quizzes, quiz vocab bank (including final test): Final test: they need their own final exam. in-person. they need this in 2 months. Start with Lesson 8, 7, and Lesson 2, 3.

  • 5.) Instructor slides: make them kid-friendly. Start with Lesson 8, 7, and Lesson 2, 3.

they focus heavily on Quran reading weekly.

FOur classes: 2 Quran; 2 Fawakih. Eg: Surah Taha and Kahf, focusing on vocabulary and Tajwid.

How can we integraete

Quranic Arabic journal Level 4

fawakih is very dry. need to spice it up. they want to remove text analysis vocab, too much. and the general vocab is not related to the text analysis. but the end should be the product of the student.

She wants text anaysis to be related to the general vocab specifically. Or take a text and extract words from that to make the general vocab. so find text analysis based on the general vocab but find one that works with the general vocab. Find text analysis or make my own and share with them. Short phrases for text, easier, reinforcing grammar and morphology. LONG TERM. and make sure that it is make it via an ayah and then make a text according to that.

They plan to finish 1A, 1B, 2A, and 2B: 6th-8th grade.

suggestion is to use ayaat that actually use the grammar and morphology principles. Speciically page 81: they like the table there, they need more examples of this.

The goal is determien the objectives of the lesson, then find the text iteself that is based on this. build activities and text analysi around those. incldues summative assessments, formative assessments.

Look at “Arabic with Husna - Book 3” of Bayyinah

Biggest issue is standardization from the book. therefore teachers and students tend to deviate from teh goal. 90% is non-language and 10% ends up being language.

middle school at APA: they are not succeeding.

the quizzes need to be true to the concepts of the book’s grammar, morphology, and text analysis.

feedback: add more ayaat to the exercises.

Text Analysis: just make them more examples from the Quran. what they are looking for is page 215 with Quranic examples of 1A book.

What is missing is the FULL STORY: they want Quranic ayaat and adapt a story around it. this is the key for text analysis.

GOAL for text analysis: students should be able to understand the grammartical, morpholgoical principles in ANY text they read. So reinforcement of it all. Key: what we do Quran Analysis in 1B and 1C.

They want two main things:

1.) Text analysis short passaged bsaed on general vocab

2.) adapt Quran ANalysi in 1B and 1C speciiclaly for 1A concepts for grammar and moprhology.

So four modules: Grammar, morpoholgoy, text analysis, AND Quran Analysis.
