QURANIC ARABIC INSTRUCTOR

Hamza Vohra completed his memorization of the Qur’an from Markaz Khalid bin Walid in Sharjah, UAE at the age of 11. He is a graduate from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in biology and a minor in psychology.

Upon completing his undergraduate education, Hamza decided to deepen his understanding of the Islamic sciences. He initially traveled to Amman, Alexandria, and Cairo where he earned 'ijazaat in Quran and studied various qira'at. He then completed a year-long course in Arabic at al-Tibyan Center for Arabic studies in Cairo.

Hamza eventually went on to spend the next five years studying in the blessed city of Madinah, at the University of Madinah, where he graduated from the faculty of shari'ah (Islamic Jurisprudence). Hamza also earned a M.A. in Arabic from Middlebury College in Vermont.

He currently serves as Imam of Masjid Samiya and Masjid al-Mustafa in Connecticut, and is pursuing doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology.
